Ludlow Food Festival - Thursday, September 22, 2011

The other weekend we exhibited at the Ludlow Food Festival -  the first time Chilton has exhibited for several years. We set up our stall as part of the festival fringe and introduced people to the delights of damson gin. it seems as if everyone has a damson tree laden with fruit this year, judging by the number of times people offered us damsons!

The Saturday went well apart from a brisk shower when we got slightly damp under our stall and had to huddle in a corner and discuss the weather problems with our fellow stall holders..Wormersley Fruit & Herb Vinegars and The Cheshire Cheese Company Sunday was a brighter day and the day passed by as we gave out samples of the damson gin and made sales to those with discerning palates!

As part of the festival there was a Damson workshop run by Slow Food Ludlow who have worked hard to get the Shropshire Prune included in the Slow food Ark of Taste - I was delighted to have the damsons used for my gin identified as the "Shropshire Prune" variety
